Wave Equation Simulation in Two-Dimensions Using a Compressed Modeler

چکیده
Repeated simulation of large scale wave propagation problems are prevalent in many fields. In oil exploration imaging problems the use of full wave simulations is becoming routinary and it is only hampered by the extreme computational resources required. In this contribution we study the feasibility of employing model order reduction techniques for the wave equation, in an attempt to decrease the cost of these calculations by at least an order of magnitude. We consider simply the acoustic wave equation in two-dimensions, but the extensions to three-dimensions and to elastic or even anysotropic problems are clear. We use the proper orthogonal decomposition approach to model order reduction and describe two algorithms: one that uses the singular value decomposition and another that uses a less expensive progressive QR decomposition. We include also two a posteriori error estimation procedures. Extensive testing and validation is performed that indicates the promise of the approach.

Numerical Simulation of 1D Linear Telegraph Equation With Variable Coefficients Using Meshless Local Radial Point Interpolation (MLRPI)
In the current work, we implement the meshless local radial point interpolation (MLRPI) method to find numerical solution of one-dimensional linear telegraph equations with variable coefficients. The MLRPI method, as a meshless technique, does not require any background integration cells and all integrations are carried out locally over small quadrature domains of regular shapes, such as lines ...

With the rapid growth of indoor wireless communication systems, the need to accurately model radio wave propagation inside the building environments has increased. Many site-specific methods have been proposed for modeling indoor radio channels. Among these methods, the ray tracing algorithm and the finite-difference time domain (FDTD) method are the most popular ones. The ray tracing approach ...
متن کاملDifferential Transform Method to two-dimensional non-linear wave equation
In this paper, an analytic solution is presented using differential transform method (DTM) for a class of wave equation. The emphasis is on the nonlinear two-dimensional wave equation. The procedures introduced in this paper are in recursive forms which can be used to obtain the closed form of the solutions, if they are required. The method is tested on various examples, and the results reveal ...
متن کاملSimulation of Gravity Wave Propagation in Free Surface Flows by an Incompressible SPH Algorithm
This paper presents an incompressible smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) model to simulate wave propagation in a free surface flow. The Navier-Stokes equations are solved in a Lagrangian framework using a three-step fractional method. In the first step, a temporary velocity field is provided according to the relevant body forces. This velocity field is renewed in the second step to include t...
